Facial Implants Recovery
No matter what type of surgery a person goes through, the more committed they
are to recovering the faster they are likely to heal.
The first step to a quick recovery after facial implant surgery is preparation.
People who are about to undergo facial implant surgery should make sure that
they know everything there is to know about their procedure so that they are
confident going into surgery. Emotional and psychological preparation are absolutely
essential when it comes to making a major transformation to the body, especially
when it comes to facial implant surgery. Patients should also make sure that
they have everything that they will need at home so that after surgery they
can just relax and heal. Prescriptions should be filled and the fridge should
be stocked with beverages and soft, easy to prepare foods before hand so the
recovering patient need not leave the house.
Diet and lifestyle are also important to recovery. Before surgery patients
should attempt to maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise and a
balanced diet so that their bodies are strong and able to heal more quickly.
Patients who undergo facial implant surgery should take at least a week off
work to give themselves time to heal. Usually major bruising, swelling and discomfort
subside after about three days but it can take weeks for a patient to feel completely
back to normal.
If a patient's surgery involves an incision made inside the mouth most surgeons
will advise these patients not to smoke or eat anything that might irritate
stitches during the recovery process. Usually it takes about 10 days for incisions
to heal after which the stitches usually either disintegrate or are removed.
Many surgeons will tell their patients not to engage in any sort of contact
sport for at least a few months after surgery to ensure proper healing. Surgeons
may also prescribe antibiotics for their healing patients so that the risk of
infection is cut down.
The best way to speed up the recovery process after facial implant surgery
is to take it easy. Take a break from work, exercise and any other strenuous
activity for a while and if you have children make sure that they know you will
be out of commission for a while.
Having facial implants can produce a major change in your look and your demeanor
so make sure you allow yourself an ample amount of time to get used to the change
both mentally and physically.
