Double Chin Plastic Surgery

Surgery plastic surgery can correct the excess skin and fatty tissues found beneath the jaw that lead to a double chin deformity. Lots of patients with this problem can be treated by a procedure called Tumescent Liposuction. This procedure works by removing the excess fat through direct fat excision through small incision under the chin.

In the past facelifts and chin tucks were the primary types of chin surgery used to remove or reduce double chin. Both procedures are effective, but there are now newer methods that are associated with many fewer side effects and a much more rapid recovery as well as less scarring than earlier methods.

The Tumescent Liposuction has revolutionized double chin surgery. Liposuction can easily remove the double chin fat and there's a significant tightening of chin and neck skin present that naturally accompanies the healing process after liposuction. Small incisions in double chin plastic surgery tumescent liposuction are possible because of the microscopic size of surgical instruments. Additionally the incisions are placed where they are almost impossible to notice.

With this particular technique of liposuction (using local anaesthetic only), there is little bleeding and definitely little trauma to the tissue. This approach that allows fat removal from the neck and jowl region and through the the incision under the chin, direct tightening of the neck's muscles to establish a better angle between the neck and jaw line is now one of the most requested procedures for the older patients.

Another advantage of this procedure is that recovery time is very rapid. No general anesthesia is used, only local anesthetic when performing the routine and patients are comfortable throughout the procedure. The downtime and the risks of general anesthesia are avoided.

Where women used to be the majority of patients requesting double chin plastic surgery now, with changing standards of aesthetics of the male face, many men are now seeking the benefits of facial cosmetic surgery procedures. The single chin and the overall appearance of fresh and sharp angular contours leads to a well-rested translate to the perception of a more youthful appearance.
