Camouflage Cosmetics Side Effects and Risks

There are very few risks and side effects associated with camouflage cosmetics.

Most camouflage cosmetics are specially designed to be gentle on the skin, especially those that are geared towards people who are recovering from plastic surgery. Most of these products are hypoallergenic and fragrance free so very few people are adversely effected after using them. Regardless of this fact, it is always a good idea to test the products that you buy on a patch of skin to make sure that you don't have a reaction. To test the product open it up and blend a bit into your forearm. Wait 24 hours and if you don't notice any redness, swelling or other indication that your body is rejecting it you should have no problem using the makeup to conceal your healing wounds.

When you are looking for camouflage cosmetics, ask your surgeon if he or she can recommend a specific brand that plastic surgery patients typically use. Your surgeon will probably not only recommend a brand to you, he or she may also be able to put you in touch with a makeup artist who can help to teach you how to properly apply the products you purchase.

The only real side effect or risk that is associated with camouflage cosmetics (other than looking foolish due to improper application) is infection.

Infection is most likely to occur when a patient attempts to use cosmetics before their wounds have healed. Obviously no good can come from applying makeup to open wounds so all patients should make sure that they consult their surgeon before attempting to use camouflage cosmetics.

Some patients will be ready for cosmetics two days after surgery, while others won't be ready to apply make up until at least two weeks after surgery. The amount of recovery time needed will entirely depend on the individual and the procedure that they have had.

To avoid infection no one who has stitches or open wounds should be using camouflage cosmetics.

If you allow yourself the proper time to heal and choose high quality products, the only side effect that you should notice from camouflage cosmetics is extreme good looks.
