Endoscopic Brow Lift

Wrinkles and frown lines are a common sign of aging for men and women alike. As gravity tugs on your skin and muscles, the entire forehead loosens up and gives the appearance of being tired, sad, or angry. To combat this, plastic surgeons have developed many different kinds of brow lifts that can smooth the forehead and reduce signs of aging.

The tradition procedure required many large incisions hidden in the hairline. These incisions were susceptible to infection and widening scars because once the skin is pulled tight it has extra tension that pulls at the incisions. A newer technique called endoscopic brow lift surgery can circumvent the need for large incisions by using small probes with cameras at the tip that allow the surgeon to see inside the body. Such an endoscopic eye brow lift can produce the same results of a traditional lift with fewer complications. Furthermore, an endo brow lift is ideal for patients with insufficient hair to cover up large incisions.

In the actual procedure, four or five incisions about an inch long are made around the hairline. The endoscope is then inserted into one of them and allows to surgeon to see what's going on under the skin on a television screen. Another probe with a cutting tool or grabbing tool is inserted to allow the procedure to take place. By watching what happens on the screen, the surgeon can then lift the forehead skin, muscles, and underlying tissues. He or she can even lift the eyebrows by suturing them beneath the skin.

Once the adjustments are made, the probes are removed and the incisions are sealed. The incisions are smaller, less prone to infection, and heal faster than traditional ones. This procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis and the patient gets to go home after the surgery. It's done under intravenous anesthesia or general anesthesia. After a few days you have to return to the surgeon to give an update on your healing and remove any sutures remaining. Most patients can return to work in a week and the results of the surgery are immediately noticeable and last up to ten years.

No one likes to see his or her forehead become loose and wrinkled. Those stress lines can also be embarrassing. By pursuing a brow lift surgery you can wipe out those signs of aging and look younger. You can regain the confidence of your youth and feel good about the way you look.

Talk to a certified plastic surgeon today to discuss your options. Endoscopic surgery is an effective way to reduce obvious signs of aging and rejuvenate your appearance. It's not the perfect choice for everyone so an adequate dialogue with a plastic surgeon is a good idea.
