Question: I am a young African American woman and I have a very large nose. I have told my family that I want to get a nose job. Most of my family was supportive, but my brother in law Charlie (he wants us to call him Abdul-Mustafa-Sabaz-X) said that I was betraying my ethnic heritage and that I should be a proud black women and not conform to the institutionalized image of beauty, perpetrated by the the white man. What should I do?

Answer: Just be true to yourself. It's your body and it is up to you to decide what to do with it. If you are a proud black women, it doesn't matter what your nose looks like. Just be true to yourself.
